Vancouver’s Flack Block is a beautiful historical building. Drafting using only details from historical photographs, ASM led the restoration and replacement of the building’s original archway, which had been destroyed in the 1940s.
As it is a historical building, ASM had to not only satisfy original design considerations, but balance them with modern seismic guidelines. Made using Indiana Grey Limestone, this completely hand carved project required approximately 6 full months to produce. Because the local sandstone is not available, the new archway was matched for colour.
